Here’s a real quick one today.
This is a rendition of the character Joan Holloway from the TV Series Mad Men (check the AMC TV site here).
I drew it up in pencil, scanned it in (using the Mustek scanner I wrote about earlier) and colored it in Photoshop.
I have to admit, it didn’t turn out the way I wanted. Usually when I’m drawing an actual person I want it to look exactly like them, but I had meant for this to be a fun one so I decided not to agonize over it.
I think I did a better job on the Elena from Vampire Diaries drawing I did earlier this year. If this would have been a paying job then I would have put more time into it.

The show is amazing. Especially if you’re a creative person (and I suspect most people who read my blog are), then you’ll get a lot out the show.
So aside from that I won’t get into it too much. If you have any questions about my process or want me to draw something for you just contact me and let me know.
Now there’s only about 6-7 more months until season 5…aargh.

I’m just wondering how long it took ya to completely finish it? (just curious to know what an artist actually means when saying “real quick one” :D)

Thanks for the compliment. It took me about 2.5 hours to do this one, even though most of it was erasing and redrawing because it wasn’t coming out right. I could have easily taken the whole night if I didn’t stop myself.
